Tarkett Laminate Flooring
Tarkett laminate flooring is the second largest manufacturer of laminate flooring in the world. Tarkett laminate is based in Houston, Texas and sells dozens of different wood patterned laminate floor types, from a rich, dark stained oak look to bright, light ash.
The way Tarkett laminate makes its floors is similar to using a Rexel laminating machine. The Rexel is a machine which laminates paper with rolls of film that cover and adhere to the paper using thermal heat. Another type of machine made by Fellowes uses the same technology with the exception that the paper is inserted into pouches and then sent through the machine.
Tarkett laminate does not use the BOPP laminating process either, but again, is similar. BOPP laminating is a way to laminate processed foods and allow minimal oxygen and moisture to the food to keep it fresh.
Tarkett laminate flooring uses a similar concept to the Rexel, Fellowes and BOPP processes, but on a much larger scale and without the use of films or pouches. Rather Tarkett laminate uses a process where it presses together all the layers of the floor and uses a coater to complete the process with a hard, durable resin finish.
There are four to five layers to most laminate floors, and Tarkett laminate flooring is no exception. The bottom Tarkett laminate layer or two is the stabilizing layer of the floor, as well as a cushioned noise reduction layer in better laminate flooring. The stabilizing layer is made with strong resin to hold the floor together. The next layer is the core layer, which determines the thickness and durability of the flooring. This is typically made of particle board. The design layer is next and gives the Tarkett laminate floor its look. The design is usually a photograph of wood or stone and gives the floor a natural look. The wear layer is on top and is a resin coated cellulose paper, similar to the stabilizing layer. This hard resin top layer makes the floor durable and wear resistant.
Tarkett laminate flooring is easy to install using a snap together technology. This technology requires no glue or dry time, and is perfect for do-it-yourselfers. The Tarkett laminate planks snap together in a tongue and groove style and fit together perfectly to create an even, smooth surface and a beautifully finished Tarkett laminate floor.
